Returns and cancellations
We want you to love your artwork. Because each painting involves real artist time, ready-made works and made-to-order paintings are handled differently.
Two product types, two policies
Most works on Budapest Canvas are made-to-order paintings. A small number of finished pieces are sold as ready-made artworks. Refund and cancellation rules differ between the two.
Ready-made artwork
- 14-day return window from delivery
- Must be returned in original condition, preferably in the original packaging or otherwise in packaging that provides equivalent protection
- Refund issued after we receive and inspect the work
Made-to-order painting
- Before the artist begins: fully refundable
- After work begins: non-refundable, since artist time and materials are committed; the 14-day no-reason withdrawal right does not apply to paintings made after order
- Final photo review: we adjust where reasonable before shipping
Damaged in transit
If your canvas arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days where possible with photos of the packaging and the artwork. This deadline helps carrier claim handling and does not affect mandatory statutory warranty rights available to consumers. We will assess repair, replacement, or refund options separately from the rules above.
Not eligible
- Orders cancelled after the artist has begun work
- Ready-made works returned after 14 days, or artworks returned damaged because protective packaging was not adequate
- Damage caused after delivery

Eligible ready-made returns
For eligible ready-made artwork returns, email returns@bpcanvas.com or use our contact form within 14 days of delivery.

Made-to-order cancellations
For made-to-order paintings, cancellation is fully refundable only before the artist begins work. After work begins, artist time and materials are committed.

Transit damage
If the artwork arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days where possible with photos of the packaging and the artwork. This helps carrier claim handling and does not limit mandatory consumer rights.

Return instructions
If a return is eligible, we will confirm the return address, packaging instructions, shipping responsibility, and refund timing before you send the artwork back.
Why paintings work this way
Each order is a paid studio brief for a Hungarian painter — once they begin, materials are prepared and time is committed. That's why we send a final photo for your approval before shipping, and why we'd rather adjust early than refund late. If anything concerns you during the process, tell us straight away.
